FOODIE

Introducing Foodie, the ultimate app for seamless meal prepping and recipe sharing among roommates. Designed to streamline meal planning and enhance communal cooking experiences, Foodie allows users to easily create and organize meal plans, generate shopping lists, and share recipes with their housemates. The app features collaborative tools for assigning cooking duties, tracking pantry inventory, and syncing meal and cooking schedules, ensuring that everyone stays on the same page. With its intuitive interface and customizable features, Foodie transforms kitchen chaos into a well-orchestrated culinary adventure, fostering cooperation and delicious results in every shared meal.

The idea for Foodie began with real-world challenges I observed in shared living situations—uneven cooking responsibilities, duplicate grocery purchases, and missed opportunities for communal meals. I started by interviewing roommates and analyzing existing meal planning tools to identify pain points and gaps in current solutions. From there, I defined key features that would reduce friction in group cooking experiences while promoting collaboration and organization.

Once the core needs were established, I mapped out user flows and created wireframes to explore different ways people might interact with the app—whether they were the lead planner, a casual contributor, or simply looking to chip in on groceries. I paid particular attention to creating a system that felt inclusive and flexible, recognizing that not all users would approach cooking or planning the same way. Early testing helped me refine the navigation and reinforce the value of transparency in shared responsibilities.

With usability in focus, I designed a clean, friendly interface that balanced utility with warmth. I used visual cues like color-coded schedules, ingredient tags, and checklist icons to support at-a-glance comprehension. The recipe-sharing component was built to feel social and inviting, making it easy for users to upload, browse, and save ideas from one another. Pantry tracking and synced calendars helped tie the ecosystem together, supporting both planned events and spontaneous cooking sessions.

Through iterative prototyping and user feedback, Foodie evolved into a tool that not only solves logistical problems but also strengthens community around food. The final design empowers users to coordinate meals without micromanagement, making shared cooking more enjoyable and less stressful. This project deepened my interest in service design and highlighted the power of thoughtful UX in creating harmony in everyday routines.
